George Gillson
in memoriam

In the mid 1950s, my dad recorded four original songs, which were pressed onto two 78rpm records.

Ace Recording Studios in Boston had a resident pianist who would improvise accompaniment based on chords the songwriter/customer provided. You paid a fee, laid down your tracks, and got your 78s. My dad was a big fan of Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett and Sarah Vaughan.

"My Heart Lies Sleeping"

"One of Those Foolish Ones"

"You Are a Stranger"

"Can't Get to Sleep Tonight"
